Our story

The legacy started in 1911; when John Rode Sr. quit his full-time job to take his passion of photography and turn it into a family business. John Rode Sr. started by offering black & white film processing to local merchants, and he would have the local bakery truck drivers pick up and deliver the processing orders. Eventually, they moved the family business out of their home and opened up their storefront. As the years passed John Rode Jr. and then John Rode, III joined the family business with each generation adding to the success of the business. Rode’s Camera Shop reached a major milestone of being in business for 100 years in 2011. John Rode, III decided he was ready to retire and enjoy golf and his grandchildren and sold the business to his employees so they could benefit from the fruits of their labor.

Photographs and movies are our way of sharing our lives with the ones we love and care about. Rode’s is a full-service photo imaging store, where we can help you share your lives with the rest of the world. We take great pride in helping you create beautiful images that you will be proud to share with family and friends. We’ll help you pick out the right camera gear and teach you how to use it. In our in-house professional lab we can take your images and turn them into pieces of art.

Being in business for over 100 years, we haven’t forgotten our roots. Besides digital files, we still print from negatives and slides on a daily basis. We can even scan your old negatives and slides so you can access them digitally. Rode’s can also digitize your old family movies and turn them into DVD’s.
